Impact of Google Panda on SEO Rankings

It is a common assumption that to drive more traffic to websites, having high search engine ranking is necessary. SEO, or search engine optimization is the crucial tool that make this assumption possible for website owners. Major search engines like Google and Yahoo demand high page ranking to show off particular website’s products and services first in the search engine results. Where there is high page ranking, great volume of profit is ensured. Today, a new application has been launched by Google, named Google Panda. There is nothing new included in this application but rather a ranking factor.

However, it is important for all website owners to know what Google panda is and how it will have impact on SEO rankings. Well, Panda is not completely new thing to SEO word. Google has introduced earlier versions of same application in the last few months of this year. People who are affected by Panda earlier would be able to immediately understand and take action measures to give up issues and move forward with high page ranking. Google has a basic procedure for all search results wherein it displays all possible results for particular keyword-base search. This method is called ranking algorithm through which Google reviews the links that are used, the words and phrases that are on a particular page, finds what the site’s reputation is, and more.

What Does Panda Update Really Mean

The above mentioned is a part of SEO procedure which ensures high page ranking for websites in Google. At regular time intervals Google revisits its ranking algorithm and make an overhaul of updates. Readers should keep in mind that the term ‘update’ is also used for that which is not algorithm updates. Every few months Google use Index Updates in which it would include scores of new web pages to its collection. Due to the immense introduction of these new web pages there would be resulting changes in ranking factor which invariably intended that it would take a while for things to settle down.

In fact, Google Panda is similar to PageRank wherein every website is basically provided with a PandaRank score. Websites with poor page ranking don’t cause any changes but those with high page score will get bites of the Panda. Thus, Panda is not a change to the entire ranking algorithm but rather is a new ranking elements included into the algorithm. Panda can be considered as a filter which Google employs to find out what is considered to be poor quality pages. If a website owner has many poor quality web pages then he will be flagged. However, this won’t automatically result in the site that it would no longer be available through the search engine.

Thus, any web pages of a website could get a penalty if it includes poor quality contents. Panda is designed keeping the point in mind that only higher quality pages get high page ranking in search engine results. To conclude, SEO has prime role in getting higher visibility for page ranking in search engines but it doesn’t indicate that the site makes a good performance on the online world. To get updates on the performance level of website, owners need to look at the traffic that Google sends to. Preventive measures for panda effect are also available in online sources. Get them and keep your page ranking as it as earlier.
